I heart Cynthia Rowley - she is the perfect blend of whimsy and kickass. I also heart Montauk - it is the quintessential East Coast beach town and also the perfect blend of whimsy and badass.
David and I were in East Hampton all last weekend (rough life, I know) and cruised out with L.J. and Jay on Saturday for the Cynthia Rowley/Bonobos party at her Montauk store. This store might be one of the cutest I have ever seen. A small decked path across a pile of sand leads to a teeny low-roofed bungalow that sells Rowley's main collection, pieces from her collaboration with Roxy, Diptyque candles, and AMAZING jewelry from Waris Ahluwalia.

If ever I am reincarnated as a shop girl, I want it to be here.
The party was for Bonobos as their swim-trunk-pop-up-shop was held in a teeny room behind Rowley's store, aptly named "The Shack in the Back." It's a genius inclusion as there ain't much for men over there. I have to say though, the party left much to be desired (more A/C and a less douche-y crowd would have saved the day) but it was fun. Bonobos is WASPY brand that makes pants in every color of the rainbow, so it makes sense that every guy in attendance had a trust fund and was in salmon and/or mint seersucker. I actually heard a guy describe the graphic on his belt as "his family's crest reimagined through leather." ick.
The real star of the show is Rowley's Roxy collaboration. It LOVE LOVE LOVE it. As she explained, the problem with a woman's wetsuit is that it's just a tweaked version of a man's - hence the unflattering lengths, odd cuts, and absence of any cute touches. So she decided to pretty it up a bit. All it took was a surfer chick with a love of pastels to change it all. My surfing abilities are tragic at best, but if I get to surf like a Bond-girl in that one-piece, I might have to start going a lot more often.

Bond One Piece - $120

Green Room Wetsuit - $198
