Backstage Dreams

Elie Saab's Haute Couture shows are like being under a fairytale spell.  His looks are almost emotional in the way that he uses delicate laces with crystals, sequins and beading that seems to shine with a little extra light.  Stunning embroidered bodices with high necklines, layers of lace and tulle, and gowns with open backs gracefully framed in raw edged lace...  Elie's gowns and cocktail dresses are otherworldly - like dresses created for actual princesses.

In Constantinople's Wake was the name that he gave the show and, in my humble opinion, it was one of his prettiest shows to date.  His use of super-delicate fabrics like Chantilly lace, silk jacquards and a mosaic-print georgette kept the dresses looking light despite all of thousands of beads, sequins and crystals. The glimpse of backstage below (courtesy of Elie Saab) gives a sneak peak of the magic before it was on display.  I love the images from backstage before a fashion show - it feels so intimate.
